Day 8

This morning we went back to Shaiman Island with our guide. We wanted to just walk around and do some shopping. We went back to Jenny's Place, which is a store we discovered in November that is run by a Christian couple. Jenny remembered us as soon as we walked in and was happy to see us back. We bought several things from her store and were encouraged by Jenny's love for the Lord.

And, of course, we had to take Linda's picture with the statues of the children!

We took Linda to the playground equipment there on the island. As we approached the playground, she began smiling and walking faster so she could begin playing. It was so special to see her face light up as she started playing on the slide! She probably would have been happy spending the whole day just playing in the park.

Because of the way she responded to that environment, Mia and I have decided to forego the normal tourist activities that they suggest and simply take Linda to the park each morning and to the pool each afternoon. That’s what kids really like to do, and that’s what she will be doing a lot of once we’re back home.

This afternoon we went back to the pool at the hotel. This time we had purchased our own arm floaties, ring and goggles, so Linda was fully prepared! She had a blast and would have been happy spending the entire afternoon in the water! She is truly showing signs of being a Metzgar! I can’t wait to see her playing on the beach! Each day Linda gets more interactive and verbal with us, and today was the best she has done so far. We love her so much, and she is truly showing her trust in us.

As much fun as we are having here in China, Mia and I are aching to be home! I miss Debbie and Jake, Dean, and Joy so, so much! I can’t wait for them to be with Linda and for Linda to be with them. It is going to be so much better when we are all together as a family. I thank God for the blessing of being here and getting to know our new daughter. I am also thankful that we will be leaving for home in about four days to be reunited with our family and friends! We are feeling loved by Christ and are trusting in His divine plan for accomplishing His purposes.
