Day 5

Here is David's update . . .

Another great day in Hefei, China! God has been so gracious to us! Linda continues to warm up to us and is adjusting really well to her new family. She showed a lot of perseverance as we ventured out to the park for a two hour trek. It was very hot and humid but we needed to get out of the hotel for a bit of an adventure. Before we left the girls performed a song and dance in Chinese from Mei Mei . . . so cute!

Linda was a little trooper because we walked a total of about two miles, but she didn't complain once! However, the look on her face showed that she was feeling it! She was willing to ride a couple of rides at the amusement park, which showed her willingness to try new things.

We also rented an electric boat for a half hour ride on the lake and took in the beautiful scenery. This allowed us to cool off a bit and to see that Mia is quite the skipper!

Around the hotel and pool today Linda was speaking a lot more, but unfortunately it was in Chinese so we couldn't understand everything. But it was so cute it didn't matter! Because she is expressing herself verbally more each day, I am confident that her English will come about steadily.

This is our last night in Hefei as we head down to Guangzhou tomorrow afternoon. It will be a good chance to expose Linda to flying on an airplane. It will be a two hour warm-up flight before our 15 hour flight back to the US next Thursday. We are looking forward to seeing more families from the US in Guangzhou, and it will be a good opportunity for Linda to interact with the other children.

We had dinner with another family we met who are from northern California. Their daughter is 6 years old, and the girls have had fun playing together.
